Overview

Dustin Reichert is a retired Deputy Sheriff from Anoka County Sheriff’s Office in Minnesota. He began his law enforcement career with Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office before joining Anoka County full time, where he served primarily in patrol and built a reputation for proactive enforcement, community problem-solving, and public engagement.

Before becoming a full-time deputy, Dustin worked with Hand in Hand Inc., where he assisted in gang interviewing, intelligence gathering, and outreach efforts designed to build trust and communication with gang-involved youth and community members. Those early experiences helped shape his understanding of behavior, prevention, and the value of relationship-based policing.

During his law enforcement career, Dustin became the department’s first certified Drug Recognition Expert (DRE), built its DRE program, and later served as a DRE Instructor. He also served as a Meth Lab Specialist and Detective with the Anoka-Hennepin Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force. His work earned multiple commendations, letters of appreciation, performance awards, and honors for leadership, training, community service, and field performance, including the Purple Heart for injuries sustained in the line of duty.

Today, Dustin serves as a speaker and instructor known for practical, high-energy programs that consistently earn strong feedback for authenticity, engagement, and real-world relevance. He has presented to law enforcement, public safety, leadership, and professional audiences across the country.

His training topics include crisis intervention, mental illness response, officer wellness, post-traumatic stress, youth suicide clusters, critical incident realities, trauma recovery, and emerging conversations surrounding plant medicine in trauma treatment.

Dustin is a #1 bestselling author whose published works include 10-88! Officer Down, The Broken Heartland, and a contributing author role in The Transformational Journey. He has also authored research and educational works focused on gangs, graffiti culture, and addiction.

He hosts the Stories in the Struggle podcast, focused on the human side of service, struggle, resilience, and recovery.

Dustin is also an advocate and volunteer supporting first responders through the Invisible Wounds Project. He holds an Associate degree in Law Enforcement from Inver Hills Community College and a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Law Enforcement from Metropolitan State University.

Outside of training, Dustin is a husband, proud father of three sons, devoted dog lover, and remains committed to giving back to the first responder community.
